Nasal Fles Reduction

The nose is the structure that ensures that the oxygen necessary for the regular and healthy functioning of the body system is taken in through breathing. The most common condition that occurs in the nasal region and thus adversely affects breathing is the problem of nasal flesh swelling. Before giving information about nasal flesh problems and nasal flesh reduction operations, which we encounter frequently and cause various negative situations, it will be healthy to mention what the nasal flesh is in order to comprehend the subject in general terms.

What is nasal flesh?

Nasal flesh is the name given to the structure consisting of soft tissue and bone, which is part of the anatomical structure of the nose, which is small but has many functions in terms of respiration, which usually manifests itself with nasal congestion.
We can list the basic functions of the nasal flesh, called concha in medical language, in the body as follows;

  • The nasal flesh ensures that substances such as particles and viruses in the air taken through the nose are cleaned before being sent to the lungs. The air sent to the lungs is first taken through the nose and filtered by the nasal flesh, so that the air sent to the lungs is healthy.
  •  The nasal flesh has the task of heating and moisturizing the air taken in through breathing in accordance with the body balance. The air taken in through the nose during breathing is cold, especially in winter months, and this makes it necessary to balance the air taken in according to the body system. The nasal flesh has the task of balancing the air taken in according to the humidity structure or temperature of the environment where breathing is performed.

The nasal flesh, which has the task of filtering the air taken through the nose, heating and moisturizing it according to the body balance, tries to fulfill these functions by swelling especially in cold weather. Accordingly, the most important cause of nasal congestion in cold weather is the swelling of the nasal adenoid, also known as the concha.
The nasal flesh consists of soft tissue and bone, and the growth or swelling of the nasal flesh occurs in the soft tissue or bone. In some cases, abnormal growths can occur in soft tissue as well as bone. The occurrence of swelling or growth for various reasons in the nasal flesh, which has various functions in the body, often causes conditions that require treatment and in some cases surgery.

Why does nasal flesh growth occur?

The nose is a structure that has vital functions and forms an important link between the body and the outside world. However, growth or swelling of the nasal flesh, which has important functions in the respiratory system, has negative effects on the basic functions of the body. We can list the factors that cause nasal flesh enlargement, which causes various problems in the body, as follows:

  •  Allergy is an important factor in terms of swelling of the nasal flesh and abnormal growth after a while. Allergy, which is most commonly seen as the development of a reaction in the body against factors such as dust and pollen, can cause permanent swelling of the nasal flesh.
  •  Infection is one of the most common problems in the respiratory tract. Infections that occur in the respiratory tract cause swelling of the nasal flesh, and with the emergence of chronic or long-term respiratory diseases, permanent growths in the nasal flesh can occur.
  •  Drugs used; generally aim to treat upper respiratory tract diseases, but in the same direction, they can cause growth in the nasal flesh due to the chemicals they contain.
  • Environmental factors refer to the quality of the air inhaled from the outside world. The nasal flesh, whose main task is to balance the air taken in through breathing, swells when the air in the environment is dirty or humid. With the persistence of the unhealthy quality of the inhaled air, abnormal growth of the nasal flesh occurs.

Fles Reduction Applications

Nasal sprays; sprays with special substances can be used to reduce the nasal flesh. However, these sprays should not be used for more than 5-6 days and it is worth noting that they do not have a therapeutic feature.

Radiofrequency method;

It appears as a shrinkage method used in the treatment of nasal flesh. In the radiofrequency method, after local or general anesthesia is applied to the person, radiofrequency energy is given to the nasal flesh and thus the nasal flesh is reduced in volume.

Ultrasonic aspiration

is a tissue reduction method used in the treatment of nasal flesh. This method can be performed using laser light or ultrasonic sound waves. After creating a small 1-2 mm hole in the front of the lower nasal flesh, ultrasonic sound waves are dropped into and above the nasal flesh. Thus, the nasal flesh and the skeletal part holding the nasal flesh can be eliminated. With this method, useful tissues can be preserved and treatment can be provided without bleeding.

Nasal Fles Reduction Surgery

In cases where abnormal growths in the nasal flesh cause various complaints in the person, nasal flesh reduction surgeries are applied. In people with persistent nasal congestion and who do not respond to other treatment options, nasal flesh reduction is performed by surgical method.When the growth of the nasal flesh occurs in the bone and soft tissue, when nasal flesh growth occurs due to allergic or genetic factors, or in people with persistent nasal flesh growth, nasal flesh reduction surgeries can be performed as well as surgical removal of the nasal flesh.
