When there is an unaesthetic appearance in the nose area, which is located in the middle of our face and provides our facial harmony, this negatively affects the appearance of the whole face, and at the same time, problems may arise in terms of nasal functions in a collapse or axis curvature in the nose.
The ideal dimensions in the nose actually point to the golden ratio that exists in all living things in nature. The golden ratio in the nose actually means a healthy nose that can perform its functions and therefore an aesthetic appearance. A physically healthy and aesthetically ideal nose based on proportion and symmetry can be created in the nasal area through nasal surgeries called rhinoplasty.
What is Rhinoplasty?
Rhinoplasty is the reconstruction of the nose to make it harmonious and beautiful looking with the face.
With rhinoplasty surgeries, we can list the changes that can be made in the nose area as follows;- The size of the nose can be changed, reduced or increased.
- The shape of the tip of the nose can be changed.
- The shape of the bridge of the nose can be changed.
- In people with large nostrils, narrowing of the nostrils can be performed.
- Procedures related to the angle of the nose and upper lip, which is very important in an ideal and functional nose structure, can be performed. With rhinoplasty surgery, changes can be made in the angle between the nose and upper lip.
- If there are various obstructions in the nose, developmental or genetic deviations that cause obstruction can be eliminated during rhinoplasty surgery.
- Through rhinoplasty surgery, the nasal flesh that causes various health problems can be reduced.
How to Ensure the Right Proportion with Rhinoplasty?
Rhinoplasty surgery is performed on girls over the age of 16 and boys over the age of 17; therefore, it is an application that lasts an average of 2-3 hours, performed on people who have completed the development of nasal cartilage and bone structure.
Rhinoplasty surgery can be successful in line with the wishes and complaints of the person and the doctor who performs the necessary examinations and evaluations for the person concerned. In rhinoplasty surgeries, it is not aimed to achieve a completely symmetrical result, but to achieve facial balance and the correct proportion in the nose. In this direction, we can list the procedures performed in rhinoplasty surgery to ensure the ratio and facial balance as follows;- Changes are made in the size of the nose in accordance with the balance of the face as a whole. When the nose is too big or too small, a more proportional nose structure is created with rhinoplasty.
- Changes are made to the size of the bridge of the nose or the nostrils. Changes can also be made regarding the position of the nostrils.
- Changes are made in nasal profiles that have a depression or a prominent protrusion.
- Changes are made in large, wide or upturned nostrils.
- Asymmetries in the nose in relation to the whole facial appearance can be eliminated through rhinoplasty.
- Enlargement of the tip of the nose can be intervened, and bulbous, upturned or drooping nasal tips can be eliminated.
The aim of rhinoplasty surgery is to obtain a nose that is both functionally healthier and aesthetically more compatible with the face.
What are Rhinoplasty Techniques?
In rhinoplasty, the nasal skin that covers the nose is separated from the bone and cartilage that make up the nasal substructure. Rhinoplasty application is the procedures performed on cartilage and bones in line with the preoperative evaluations.
Basically, two types of methods are applied in rhinoplasty application.
Closed Rhinoplasty Surgery
For the interventions to be performed in the nasal region, nose surgeries in which incisions are made through the nose are called closed rhinoplasty.
Closed rhinoplasty surgery, in which all incisions are made through the nose, is preferred for people with less deformities in the nasal region and problems arising from these deformities.
Open Rhinoplasty Surgery
In open technique rhinoplasty surgeries, a 0.5 cm incision is made at the bottom of the nose between the tip of the nose and the lip area. With a good surgical application, there is no scar in this area.
Open rhinoplasty surgeries are mostly applied to people who have serious deformities in the nasal region and who experience various problems due to these deformities.
Microsurgery or ultrasonic rhinoplasty has replaced the previous breaking of the nasal bones. With these new techniques, the nasal bones are seen in more detail, more millimetric incisions are made and successful results can be achieved. In addition, with this method, the capillaries between the nasal bones are not damaged at all, so postoperative swelling and bruising are minimized.
